Hi! My name is Leah Brooks and I am a cooking enthusiast, cookbook author and founder of Young Urban Modern Chefs (Y.U.M. Chefs). It is my mission to change the way kids (and adults!) see food, making it approachable, healthy, and fun.
I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where I began my culinary career. I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle’s culinary program and worked under two of Seattle’s James Beard Award winning chefs for seven years. My husband and I moved to the Bay Area where I started a kids cooking school. It was the best most rewarding job I have ever had! Once I became a mother, we decided to make a change and move to be closer to family. After 5 amazing years living in the Bay Area, my family and I moved back to the WA, and now call the beautiful Skagit Valley home.
